Welcome to Year 2
Year 2 is a great place to learn!
The teachers who work in Year 2 are:
- Miss Ball
- Miss Neave
- Mrs Beswick
- Mrs Chappell
- Mrs Buxton
- Mrs Rose
This half term we are learning all about a magical creature - the bog baby! We are learning to say a non-chronological report, about the bog baby, from memory and will be learning to include all the specific features into our own non-fiction writing. In Science we are learning about living things and their habitats.
The Bog Baby
Our first challenge was to listen carefully to a description of the bog baby. We then had to draw a picture of the bog baby without looking at a picture! The clues that we picked out of the text were:
- he was round and blue
- he had ears like a mouse and boggly eyes
- he had a spiky tail and wings the size of daisy petals
- he was the size of a frog with a body that felt like jelly
Take a look at some of our pictures:
During the month of May children are required to sit 6 SATS papers:
- 2 reading papers
- 2 maths papers
- 1 spelling paper
- 1 grammar and punctuation paper
Please see below for the 2016 SATS papers to give you an idea of what will be on each one.
End of Year Assessment
Below you will find the document that children will be assessed against at the end of the academic year. Children must meet every objective set out on this document with the working towards standard and the working at standard in order to achieve working at age expected.
