Welcome to Year 5

Welcome to our Year 5 page! We are very excited for the year ahead in Year 5 and have lots of exciting lessons and experiences to look forward to. The staff working in Year 5 are: 

• Miss Dean - Class teacher in 5D
• Mrs Gill-Hall - Class teacher in 5GH
• Mrs Hall - Teaching Assistant
• Miss Fletcher - Teaching Assistant
• Mrs Gatenby HLTA (Mon-Wed) and PPA cover (Mon pm 5GH / Tues pm 5D)

Our PE days are Tuesday (outdoor) & Thursday (indoor). Please ensure your child has appropriate kit for these days.

Homework

Each week, children will be expected to complete a variety of homework tasks to support their in-class learning. Tasks include:

Spelling - Complete activities in their spelling journal using the word list for the week. Spelling homework will be sent out each Friday and needs to be returned on Wednesdays.

Maths - Maths at Home bingo sheet activities to be completed with support from someone at home. These are expected to be completed and returned at the end of each half term.

Children will also be expected to read each week and return their book bag each week by Wednesday, signed by an adult. All books books read (chapters in longer texts) will count towards the reading challenge.

If you have any problems accessing the maths homework online or your child finds any of the homework tasks too tricky, please come and speak to a member of the Year 5 team.
