So proud of the whole school community getting behind some families who are going through hell just now. The support, fundraising, knitting, baking and dressing up with Mr.Myers leading by example, of a generous spirit! Its so heartwarming to see and knowing my boys are not only learning educationally but also how to care for others! Well done whingate!!! Teachers/staff oarents and kids x
Looking back upon some photographs of old Whingate CP football and cricket teams I wonder how many of my school friends of those attending between 1961-1967 are grandparents of those attending Whingate today. Where you are today used to be open ground upon which we use to build the bonfires for November 5th. Mr Taylor so fond of playing classical music in assemblies was the Headmaster and other key teachers were Ms Douglas, Mr Pratt and Mrs Taylor. Mrs Taylor had us in year 4 every single morning chant out our time tables apart from Tuesday morning when we had to write the blasted things out 5 times. Living in the streets quite close to the old school we often met around the fence rails opposite entrance to the old school. I occasionally pass along Tong Road and see both the old and new school. Quite frightening to think it is over 50 years since I started at Whingate. People always say time passes quick and to make the most of it. Well to all your students it is definitely true.
Dear Mr Myers, Many, many thanks to all the staff and pupils for your recent contribution of £101.68 to the Poppy Appeal. Your excellent support and endeavours selling poppies are greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Frances Barker
